Her story
Honey is a rescue. She had a hard start in life, and we've watched her grow into an affectionate, loyal, slightly silly dog who adores her people. She loves the outdoors: hikes, new trails, the beach, and any open stretch of grass or sand where she can sprint in circles.
She's also a champion napper. Give her a soft spot and a quiet afternoon, and she's content.

Why she needs a new home
For 18 months we worked with a behaviorist, followed a training plan, and tried medication, hoping Honey would adjust to life with our toddler. She hasn't. His loud, fast, unpredictable movements make her deeply anxious. Recently she lunged and snapped at his face, the same warning she gives other dogs to back off. No one was hurt, but her jaw is level with his face and will be for years. We can't keep them both safe.
This isn't about Honey being a bad dog. She can't relax in a house with a little kid. She deserves the peaceful, relaxing home she's used to.
What to know before you reach out
- Young children make her anxious. They're loud, small, and fast, and they move unpredictably. When they trigger her, she lunges and snaps as a warning.
- Fireworks scare her. Indoors, she paces through scheduled shows and settles once they end. On a walk, one distant bang sends her pulling for home. Big displays like the Fourth of July terrify her, so we take her somewhere quiet for the night.
- She hates mail carriers and delivery drivers, like most dogs. She barks, pulls hard, and lunges, so walks call for a firm grip and an eye out for delivery trucks.
- She has never lived with another dog, and she once scuffled with one over food. Out and about, she does well with dogs when she has room to move away. A home with another dog would need a slow, careful introduction.
We're working with a behavioral veterinarian and will share her full history, vet records, and everything we've learned with anyone seriously interested.
The home she needs
- No young children. Adults only, with no kids living there or visiting often.
- A calm, steady routine. Ideally someone who works from home or keeps a predictable schedule.
- Experience with anxious dogs, or a willingness to learn and keep up her training, medication, and vet care.
- A quiet home. A fenced yard or nearby trails are a big plus.
- A permanent home. We care more about the right fit than a fast one.
